Any diabetics ever have an a1c of over 10?!

Question: No, the highest that mine ever went to without any major problems was around 8.0
Here is an A1C chart that I found in some of my diabetes resources and will share it with you:
A1c percent plasma glucose
6.0=135
7.0=170
8.0=205
9.0=240
10.0=275
11.0=310
12.0=345
13.0=380
14.0=415
***any level over 7%, is cause for concern, the ADA recommends a level of 7% or lower. I know if I can get mine down to 6.2 you can too.
Hope this helps you.

at diagnosis 11 yrs ago, mine was 13

HbA1c over 10 means you have blood sugar level above 240 mg/dL for the past 3 months.

Mine A1c was 11 back in November 2006. In November 2007, my a1C was 6.5.

i did a serous lifestyle change. I eat less, exercise a lot more. I eat more fruits and vegetables. I lost 55-60 pounds since then and have successfully kept it off. As a matter of fact, i am still losing weight but much slower now.

for the first year after being diagnosed i couldn't get my a1cs down for anything. it was constantly between 10 and 11....but they're so much better now.

Yeah, not long after I was diagnosed 24 years ago, mine was 13! I think I had a couple of 10's after that, then I gradually got it down into the 7's and 8's. Over the last few years I've been 6.5 or less, thanks to going on the pump!

I am what is called a brittle diabetic. About a year ago, my level was at 13, it is now down to 10. It is pretty scary! My doctor says that I should be closer to 6 or 7. I had a little sister pass away three years ago tomorrow, from diabetic related illness. She was only 22, but was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 3. I hope that I make it longer than twenty years. I was just diagnosed about 4 and a half years ago.

I'm sure mine was when I was diagnosed. (my blood sugar was 630 when I was diagnosed.)

Mine has been in the high 13's. When I was a teenager I didn't take very good care of my diabetes. Now I'm 25 and my kidneys are not working very well because of the years of not doing what I needed to.

When I was first diagnosed with type 1, my a1c was 12.8. Within three months, I had lowered it to the 7's range. And every test since then has came back under 7.

when i was 13 years old i had an A1c of 14. I am now 25 and its about 7. although when i was pregnant it was a perfect 5!

At the age of 57 my HbA1C was 12.1 then 6.3 and pretty much mid 5s since. My initial finger prick test could not be read by my meter, the meter erred out, which I have been told meant it was over 600. Now I average 115 in the morning and mid 80 in the evening. I will be 59 next month.

I have been extremely lucky, but took my disciplined diabetic life style to heart. It's not difficult. I just eat wiser, better and have a daily exercise routine.

Best Wishes.
