Will I have a fully autistic child?!

Question: I have turrets syndrome and my husband has asbergers syndrome. My mother in law said that the chance of us having a fully autistic child is high. Is this so?

No, it all depends- a good question to ask your MD before trying...

autism is not well understood by doctors and scientists. I don't think it's necessarily related to turrets and asbergers, but I'm not a doctor. why don't you ask a doctor - especially a specialist?

no. No one knows definitively what causes autism.

The chance is higher than normal but it's not 100 %. Do you have autism in your family? Because tourette's isn't autism and if you don't carry the gene for it and only your husband does it should only be a 50/50 chance your child will have it. I have tourette's also and it is very frustrating.

If you two breed I will personally go to your house and spray paint it with blood. Why on earth would you bring something like that into the world? If I had a horribly crippling condition and I found out that it was heritable and that my parents knew about it but conceived anyway, I would be pissed to high heaven.

Adopt, damn it.

How can you have Tourette Syndrome and not know how to spell it?

How can you be married to someone with Asperger's Syndrome and not spell that, either?

What's "fully autistic?" Autism includes a range of disorders.

Maybe you shouldn't be breeding at all.

Yes, I would have to say that the chances are higher. Science has proven that families with one autistic member are more likely to produce children on the spectrum. I would agree that you should consult your physician before trying to be on the safe side.

I would ask a doctor about it I mean a doctor would know more then some of these on here don't you think.

I feel you are going much cautiously
