The only thing a doctor can do is to prescribe a steroid medication (all they have for psoriasis) and suggest few things that you can find out on webmd.com yourself (like avoiding stress, tanning, moisturizing etc).
From my experience of dealing with psoriasis I recommend using the herbal cream/spray combo from http://www.champori.com/ It is natural and works better than anything else I tried.

Yes you can use E45 cream which is fairly good and can keep it at bay but the doctor can provide you with betnavate which is a steroid cream. This is only to be used in short periods of time but can control a flare of of the psoriasis, mostly removing all traces if it is not too bad like yours. Then you are able to self manage using the E45 and only the steroid cream when necessary.

your doctor will send you to see a specialist and will see how bad your psoriasis are,
My friend had it terrible when we were at school and her specialist used to give her appointments each week to go under a uv light to clear them and this cleared them right up and she got a free Tan!!

They came back but not as bad but she was getting repeated treatment and now she dont get them at all!!

Look into it

Good luck x
