Possibly an allergic reaction to a component to the haircolor, most likely para-phenylenediamine. See your doctor about it and take with you a list of the ingredients.

just sounds like an allergic reaction to me

You're having an allergic reaction to the hair dye. I have a friend that happened to and he ended up in the ER with anaphylactic shock and was in hospital for a week. He used some cheap 'crazy color' stuff for a halloween party. I'd go get checked out if I were you...

Sounds serious. Go to urgent care and get checked out.

I am a hairstylist. Any chemical services or new styling products can have this kind of reaction. Before you get your hair colored your stylist is supposed to take a patch test. This is a test done 24 hours before your color. It involves applying a dot of the color being used to the inside bend on your arm. This is done to see if you have any reaction to the chemicals being used. If you did have some kind of chemical service done, then it could be chemical burn. Go to your doctor and have it checked out.
