Can smoking lead to angioplasty?!

Question: What causes angioplasty?
Is smoking a cause? Lyposuction a cause?

And is this something to write out a will for?
I love my mom but she can over dramatic and she loves medical attention. She is trying to get everyone scared and to fly out here to see her through. But we're hearing it is not worth all that... please let me know. Thanks.

The most common cause of arterial blockage is diet. Smoking probably doesn't help, as some research suggests that it narrows the arteries. I don't know anything about how lyposuction would effect the arteries around the heart.

As far as writing out a will -- I think she is being a little dramatic. I've had multiple angiograms (basically the same procedure without the balloon) and a handful of angioplasty procedures. (In my case it's a heart defect.) There is always some risk, but it's miniscule. (Less than 2 percent of people die during angioplasty.) More people probably die from falling in the bath tub.

Smoking does lead to heart disease which can lead to angioplasty. And whether you think she is being dramatic or not, some people have not survived the proceedure due to complications.

yess it can

Angioplasty is a medical procedure in which a balloon is used to open a blockage in a coronary (heart) artery

You may mean atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease (CAD),angina, or heart attack which requires angioplasty.

Smoking can cause a lot of conditions and none of them good, lung cancer as well as other cancers including mouth and tongue, emphysema (where you will have to be on oxygen). heart disease and stroke. QUIT while you can.You can look up your other two questions on "yahoo search".
