Help without going to the doctor?!
Question: Last night my throat started to hurt and today it is worse. I have a headache and when I swallow, my ears feel weird, they also feel stuffy. I am taking advil every so often and it seems to help, I am also drinking juice and water but swallowing is not easy. I gargled warm salt water this morning but it doesn't seem to help. I looked around at the drug store and all I could find were meds that treated flu, cough, and cold. I don't think I have that. What should I take? Do I have to go to the doctor to get something that is going to work faster, longer or can I get something over the counter. I also don't know if this is just allergies.

Strep throat, or ear infection.
Maybe even sinuses.
Go to the doctor and be seen.
You may have strep throat. That needs to be treated with antibiotics so it is best for you to see a doctor.
I think it would be in your best interest to go to a doc...he will prescribe you the medication... the symptoms you are describing seem to be of a flu... it could just be because of weather changes.
I had similar symptoms back in Feb and like you I kept taking advil but it didn't help me at all.

a doctor isnt going to be able to help your throat, use some cough drops, they will sooth it
Look in mirror, open mouth look at tonsils. Is there white spots on them? Sounds like tonsillitis.
But I would see a doctor. Will have to anyways, if that is what it is, because it will not go away.
you either have allergies or strep throat and all you do is drink serup medicine for soar throats
sore throats are generally causes by sinus drainage on the back of the throat. you need to get a decongestant to help remedy that problem. keep taking the advil for the headache. and keep gargling with salt water. if you have an old fashioned pharmacy in town, call to see if they carry a product called "alkalol", not alcohol. cvs and walgreens generally dont carry the product, but if you can find it, gargle with that 1/2 strength with warm water. the decongestant will also help with your stuffy ears
You might try O.T.C. allergy med. Antihistamine take as directed. Plus you might try decongestant also plus something for pain. They have a throat spray that may help a little. If not better in a few days you'd best see Dr. Do you have a fever? If so you probably have infection.
