Oral polio and DPT shots?!

Question: I was called from the school nurse stating my son is short each of these from when he was 4yrs old. I can't find his original physical forms to verify. If I take him to get them and he has had them, will it hurt him?
I called his dr.s office and they told me I had to call his dr pryor to 2001 for the info. His old dr went back to his own country. These men were in the same well group so I'd also like to know why he doesn't have ALL of my sons paperwork(it should still be 1 file)
Also, my son had a physical last year when he started 5th grade. Why didn't anyone see this then?

Yeah, as said above, you might want him to get them any way... It won't hurt him, it will give his immune system a boost, and we definitely have a fair amount of pertussis working its way around the US (I spend a lot of time dealing with it at work).

If they are in the same well group, then they should have his chart. Contact the office manager and speak to that person about finding his records. If the doctor was in a different office, then you would contact that office manager. Hmm, sounds like someone doesn't want to do the digging around, or that the older stuff may have been archived. It's also very odd that he would be missing only the OPV and the DPT shots.

Good luck.

If you know that he had the shots & there is no paperwork prooving it to the school, you could always sign a waiver saying that he had the shots & you don't want him to get them again.

It won't hurt him to get the vaccines again, but as another responder said, you can always opt out. The DPT might be worth considering, though. We've had pertussis, a.k.a whooping cough, and the "P" in DPT, outbreaks in Massachusetts, and several other states have had them, too.
