Child Crohns Humira study?!

Question: My 13 year old daughter is involved in a study for Crohns Disease. She is taking Humira by injcetion every two weeks. I'm specifically looking for any of the others involved in this study to see if someone knows why they are no longer taking kids in this study? If you are involved or know someone who may have information, please let me know why this has been halted for incoming kids in this study. Thanks in advance.

hi has, i am a female crohn's pt. for 29 yrs. dxed at the age of 12. My heart goes out to your daughter and your family.

If you go to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America website's, they will have the info you are looking for as well as updated information on newer treatments, diet, surgery, how to tell your child's teachers, etc. as well as locating a local support group for kids near you. They also have a live chat and hotline that is run by healthcare professionals as well as a forum where you can post questions to others like yourself.

You can also try calling Humira and asking customer service why the study was halted. feel free to email any time if you have questions. I am an active member of the local CCFA support chapter

As someone who has 8 years of pharmacy experience under the belt, it is always quite controversial to test on children not to mention the parents who may sue if anything goes wrong, despite the fact that they basically signed off a waiver. So they may have have stopped testing on children to avoid the legal issue. Also you have to consider the moral and ethical debate this may have brought up with their staff. They probably don't want to be liable on many levels. I hope this helped you.
