Friend with a cold ate straight out of ice cream tub, will the germs be killed b!

Question: My housemate has a cold just starting, which means it's in its most infectious stage. I've got loads of work so I'm being especially paranoid about catching colds right now, but she ate straight out the ice cream tub - I know freezers don't kill germs, just stop them from progressing, but I'm really hoping it's different with cold germs; I really want to eat the ice cream! Anybody know if it's safe?
Thanks in advance for any answers!

You know the answer - you said it. The cold immobilizes them. Our food freezers don't go cold enough to kill anything. Go buy another thing of ice cream and mark it as "Do Not Eat Straight Out of This Tub". Or you will expose yourself pretty thoroughly.

Good luck.

I wouldn't take the chance. It is heat that kills bacteria and not the freezer. Throw it away or get new icecream and tell whoever that was not to be rude and get a bowl the next time. That is just plain awful.

LOL, No the cold will not kill/slow the germs. So the ice cream is not safe
