Need help with my baby's eczema!?!

Question: my son is almost 2 now, and in the past 2 years we have gone back and forth to doctors and nothing is really giving him relief. He scratches til he is pouring blood and his skin is looking more like an elephants, It breaks my heart to see him this way, i have seen several products online and as skeptical as I naturally am, I'm half tempted to give them a try. We have tried the following products, aveeno, johnson's, eucerin( this one was the worst) , hylera( $200.00 for this one!) , gold bond, emu oil, vaseline and of course all the steriod creams the doctors want to prescribe. so these are the ones we have tried and so far none have really gotten the job done, if someone out there has experience with this and you can recommend something I would really be grateful! Our next trip to the doctor is going to involve and allergist as I have read that sometimes this is allergy related...we will see.

I can completely understand that. My daughter is almost 1 and she got eczema around 6 months old. I tried all the creams and nothing worked! I was reading on th internet one day and came across this stuff called ThreeLac. It has done miracles. Since she has been taking it she has had no outbreaks at all and her skin is so beautiful. We also put this stuff called Emily on her. It did great. It kept her skin soft and smooth, but now that she takes ThreeLac, we don't have to put it on her anymore. It's about $60 for a box. But it last for like 6 months. It comes in a powder form. They are individually packaged. Just pour half of the packet into his formula, or if he no longer uses formula, put it in a sippy cup of water(about 4 oz) and shake it up. I tasted it the first time she took it and it tastes like lemonade. She loves it. You have to continue to give it to him everyday, once a day, and in a couple of weeks you will see alot of improvement. I hope this helps, I know it definitely did for my daughter. You can't even tell that she has it. Her skin is so clear now. I also gave her aveeno baths. Just go to Wal-Mart and in the baby section where all the soap is there will be baby aveeno bath. Do not use anything that is fragrant because it will just irritate it. It's about $5. If you don't choose that then you can also just use the Johnson head to toe body wash. That's what I use. I really hope this helps you. Feel free to call me anytime with questions 405-361-3537

try hydrocortizone cream

Have you tried a regular hydrocortizone cream? I used to have pretty bad eczema breakouts on my forearms and feet that bled, and I used Cortaid (but I'm sure the over-the-counter ones work just as well). That stuff cleared me right up! Good luck with poor baby's skin!!

My son dealt with eczema pretty bad for the first year or so.

Nothing really brought much help. We washed his clothes in dreft detergent. We also made sure we gave him a bath in warm/cool water not to dry out his skin. I can't recall what lotion we used but it had aloe in it. My doctor said he would outgrow it and he did. I hope your son gets better. This site might help you. Good luck.

i have used penaten cream on my baby and it worked wonders. i have heard of others that have tried it too and worked but some find it didn't. the only thing you can do is give it a try it worked better for my baby than the perscription stuff and faster too. good luck

I have a son who suffered from the same problem even to the point it was in the head i used e45 cream I swear by it and also Vaseline works great my son is 3 now and It has never appeared again, my sister also tried egg white I did laugh at the idea but on seeing her son I was very surprised to see he now has beautiful clear skin

I was born with eczema, in random patches, and now, at the age of 22, I still have it (not to discourage you!!!) Sometime it just doesn't ever go away, but as I got older, I learned how to deal with it. The spots changed in size, and some went away, and others appeared. I now have a couple batches on my elbows, one of my hip, one on my bikini line, and my entire scalp.
Yes, it is difficult as a small child to deal with eczema, and it must be so hard for you to watch him like this. I've tried about a million different things, including the steroid cream, and lotion, and so far nothing has worked. Moving to different climates has made a large change (I've lived in Texas, and West Africa... both are very humid climates) , but that's a bit extreme for your family, I think.

My only suggestion is red clover salve (i think that's what it's called). It didn't work too well for me, but it's all natural. I just think I didn't use it consistently enough.

Lastly, remember that the scratching will become a habit. After 22 years of it, my mom will often 'catch' me scratching, even when I don't realize I am! Keep it moisturized with the best, thickest lotion you can find (in between medicated treatments) which will help on the itchiness. Also, as he gets a bit older, when the itching gets really bad, give him a low dose of pain killer, which will take away the itchiness a bit. Like I said, the more you can avoid him getting in the habit of scratching (he'll end up scratching even when it's not itchy!), the better of he'll be.

Hope that helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me.

My daughter has had eczema since birth, we have tried everything, we went to a dermatologist specialised in children: atopic eczema can flare up due to diet, allergies, etc. if one or both parents have an history of allergies you got double"chance" to have it.The recommendations were: only natural fibres against baby skin:cotton the best. cover lightly when sleeping, if baby sweats eczema will get worse: so warm but not sweaty, on diet: common trigger of eczema can be oranges, eggs, bananas, berries...has products go, DO NOT USE COMMON SOAP: IT WILL DRY THE SKIN AND ECZEMA WILL GET WORSE, my girl did not respond well until i discovered MUSTELA products they have a full range for atopic skins conditions , only problem you can only get it online(www.monguidesante.com) i use it to place big orders, they are reliable and you get points for your orders: oily bath solution, emollient cream, soothing cream for body and face and a specific one for nappy area(yes eczema also appears in the nappy area and it is really bad), etc it did work for my bay, and so far- less the tiny occasional flare up- we have it under control. Good luck

Your baby's skin could be agitated with all the chemical and dyes in your everyday product use. It was in the news lately in regards to baby products having too many chemicals. Combined with the sun this causes irritation. I sell Arbonne.. and we have products that really works to clear your baby's skin and reduce and redness!! Arbonne is swiss formulated skin care that is chemical and dye free. Hydrocortizone cream works but will cause more dryness.

This botanically-based, mild wash is tear-free and replaces the skin
