Hi Dolly, I had stopped and started so many times, I thought I would never pack it in, however last year I just managed it, and have not had a single one since. I suppose it was just meant to be, and I wasn't even all that keen that I could, I was just lucky this time I guess.

awwwww CUTE PUPPY =D
Hmmm I also seem 2 have a similar problem its like everytime I have like 2 beers I feel like smoking like crazy :P

Stop altogether ... my trick was to replace the smoking with something else ... a distraction, if you like ...

I went cold-turkey - for the hundredth time - but for some reason, this time it took .... just completed 1 year with no ciggies ...

as an ex smoker, i know too well how hard it can be, and there is so much peer pressure nowadays that it is impossible to keep going of your own free will, i stopped and started a few times but finally stopped When I was ready.....not for others. i have been stopped for 2 years now and never looked back, however...your question is best answered by yourself...you will know if / when you want to stop completely...on the other advice...two words sum it all up.....YOUR HEALTH...good luck whatever you decide to do

You mentioned you smoke while you are drinking wine. Maybe you are associating wine with smoking. Try altering your activties while you are quitting so that you don't slip back into old habits.

Instead of drinking wine in front of the TV with a smoke, try grape juice outside on the porch. It's a new activity and thus you are not slipping into old habits.

I smoked from 1972 to 1996 and then quit for 14 months. However it really didn't count because I chewed tobacco at times. After 14 months I took ONE cigarette. Then I bought a pack. The pack lasted a week. The next pack lasted 2 days. The next pack lasted a day, and I continued smoking until Feb of 2007. One day I went to WalMart, bought the patches, finished the pack I was smoking and I've not had one cigarette since. I thought I would die, but I did it. It was just my time to quit. If you are so lucky (and I mean it, I'm not being sarcastic) to be able to just have a few cigarettes now and then, then I say enjoy it. There are those who will preach the evils of smoking, and they're right, but if you can have a few, take it or leave it, then I say go for it.

Stop drinking the wine and you won't wanna smoke.
You drink way too much anyway ya plonky!! :)

ya plonky (just liked that phrase)

Wean yourself off them slowly. Keep as you are for a week or two, then try again to cut back

Good luck

i said to myself last year i would give up but i lasted about 5 hours and i was the moodiest ***** ever lol the fact that you like to smoke 3 or 4 a day when your drinking wine really means you don't want to stop. unless you really say to yourself you want to give up then sorry hun but i doubt you will. its all about willpower.if you do really want to give up i suggest you should set yourself a date for when you want to start. then instead of having a fag when your drinking try and find something else to keep you occupied. also when you really craving one, i suggest to buy either nicoret lozendures or gum as they worked for me, not the best taste in the world but they help! good luck x

Well, tapering off is not a bad idea. The trouble with doing it while you're drinking is that alcohol impairs your judgment and you're reinforcing the habit.

Think of your failed attempts as practice. Seriously, we learn to do everything by practice.

You are not failing - you are practicing being a non-smoker.

I smoked for 25 years and finally quit about 15 years ago.

You will feel much better if you quit and eventually wonder how you ever had such a habit.

Keep practicing and you can conquer that addiction.

Good luck! You are succeeding!

it sounds horrible, but drink strong green tea and chew spicy dried mango
