HIV disease is spread through body fluids. And it isn't in all body fluids in the same amounts. Blood, semen and vaginal fluids all have high amounts. As do lymph and cerebral/spinal fluids. Tears and sweat and spit are very low and no one has ever been documented as getting it that way. How do you get it? Unprotected sex, sharing needles, exchanging blood (blood brothers ritual, open wounds bled into, etc...) are the only ways to get it.

So if you and your friend are non-sexual friends and you aren't sharing needles, you're good. Can't catch it without a lot of effort.

Hope that helps.

It doesn't fly thru the air if thats what your refering too.... Thru blood and body fluids is how it is spread... sex, needles..etc

It will matter to you if you get it.

HIV is present in levels high enough to cause infection in blood, semen, vaginal secretions, and breast milk. so just keep those things out of your body. don't have sex with that person, be very careful of open wounds, don't share needles for any reason (IV drug use, at home piercings/tattooing, even dibetes testing strips)

ways you will not get it
hugging
shaking hands
kissing (unless your friend has open wounds in their mouth or sever gum disease)
being around your friend
normal day to day contact
food preparation
anything that does not involve bodily fluids
