The only thing that I can think of is that it's viral. Viral infections don't really show up on any tests other than a CBC. On a CBC it will show up as high white blood cell count, as with any infection. This happened to my daughter when she was about 18 months. Wait to see if she gets a rash.... then it's roseola.... harmless. The only thing that happens with it is a fever... no other signs or symptoms, then a few days later, the child gets a rash, usually over the trunk of the body.
Make sure you keep him hydrated (fevers can dehydrate quickley, especially in such a young infant). Keep giving the tylenol as directed by your pediatician. Give tepid sponge baths as well. The water should not feel cool or warm. That can help if the fever gets really high.

High fever or low grade? A fever is a sign of infection. There is some infection they aren't catching. If it is a low grade fever it could be viral. What are his other symptoms? Is he tugging his ear? Did they press around his belly and did he cry louder? If the fever is high, I would see the pediatritian and not leave until I have an answer. If it is low, continue monitoring it until it passes.

Does the fever respond to Tylenol or cool baths & ice packs. then go back up, or does it just remain high?? iIthink if it was me I would pursue this with the pediatrician, & if he can't find a reason for it, ask for a referral to someone else, like a university hospital peds dept..
