My friend has terrible eczema, will this go away when she gets older?!

Question: My friend is 13 and since she was born, she and her twin have been diagnosed with eczema. It is ALL OVER there body, and i mean everywhere. They scratch constantly, and get really grumpy and frustrated. They also suffer from hayfever, and are always sneezing and blowing their nose. They use skin lotions from doctors and medication and things to help it, but I am just wondering if it will go away when they're older. Their faces are red and there eyes water. They are always scratching, and they bleed daily on their skin.

once you are affected with eczema, the skin condition will never go away, but there are things that can be done to be able to avoid eczema flares.

to avoid eczema flare ups there are lot of things to consider like:

* keeping fingernails trimmed
* using an all natural moisturizer throughout the day will be helpful in keeping skin moist
* hydrating the skin by drinking loads of water
* avoiding foods that are processed and that have preservatives
* use natural fabrics that are soft
* avoid tight, rough and scratchy clothes
* do not sweat it, avoid activities that makes you sweat
* avoid temperatures that are extremely hot and cold
* avoid drastic change of weather
* try not to scratch the infected area
* watch and check out diet
* avoid long baths
* get rid of skin irritants like dust and pollens
* keep your environment clean

I guess all cases are different but I had exzema pretty bad when I was little, but it's gone now. It tends to come and go in 7 year cycles apparently, mine was worse around 7, 14 and 21 but since then not had anything worth speaking about. My theory is that your body replaces all the cells in itself around every 7 years, but that's probably rubbish.

I might suggest a homeopath. Lots of people pooh pooh them but my ex wife had HORRIBLE exczema when pregnant with first, but saw a homeopath when pregnant again and he treated it and it was virtually non exsistant 2nd time. May be only related to gestational exczema.

Horrible condition. Sympathies.

I have eczema, and it has actually gotten worse since it first started (it started when I was in high school or middle school, now i'm 3 years into college). So, I'm not sure if it will go away.

It's pretty much like chicken pox. Just don't touch it and bear with the itches. It makes things go away faster. Use LOTS of lotion and use Aveeno. They have special made lotion that deals with skin conditions. It'll "soothe" the itch for a bit. They shouldn't be using anything that's has a scent to it (ie: scented soap), because it actually is an irritant for people who get eczema.

:/

A doctor will say "wait and see" but, through personal experiences, I would say "Never"

They, the people your talking about, will always have asthma and eczema, it sound like it's not being treated properly. I and my daughter, and three Grand daughters, all get treatments for this. We get xolar shots twice a week, I get allergy shots twice a week (five of them) plus medication.

My daughter didn't wear a dress that showed her legs until she became older and they developed better meds. Now for the first time, she's wearing dresses and her skin looks much better.

They should be seeing a better allergist.

No its wont go away my stepdad has had it from the time of birth and now he is 30.. there is this cream that you can use that will help stop break out but it wont go away
