Lupus its a disable condition?!

Question: It is listed as one, but everyone differs on how it affects them. We all have bad days, but disability is determined by ongoing inability to work. I have a "lupus-like" disease and can not work nor does my dr. want me to work. Good luck

yes my mom has lupus and is disabled. She is only 57 years old. Sad condition and symptoms. I feel sorry for anyone who has that disease.

Lupus can be severe and disabling.
Lupus can be mild and hardly noticeable most of the time.
Lupus can be anywhere in between these two.
Lupus changes all the time.

I have the lupus that affects my organs (heart, lungs, bone marrow, kidneys). It also affected my joints and made me very tired. For 4 years, I could not work. Now I am working again, 7 days each week, but not all of the days are full days.

So, the answer is yes, it can be disabling. And no, it isn't always disabling. And it can change over time.

Lupus patients have to be partners with their doctors in managing their own disease and creating the best health they can. Keeping lupus calm is a matter of self management and following your treatment regimen.
