Having constant fevers, whats with that?!

Question: My daughter is having constant fevers, fine for a few weeks then gets them right back. She is going to get some lab work done but it there something that the doctor can be missing? She wants to test her for sisticfibrosis, what exactly is that? And she is only 6 years old. The doctor said her red cell count is off. She was born at 28 weeks, preemie. What are some questions I should be asking the doctor and she only weight 36 pounds. Tiny but healthy so to speak. Eats well and acts normal and not different from other kids. Are we missing something? Has had broncitus 4 time and turn into phnomia 2 times. Any thought on the matter? We give her tynelol and Advil and the fever comes right back but stronger?

It sounds like it might- might be something to do with the immune system. The red blood cell count and the constant and persistent fevers seem to point that way. Her small size might just be because she was a premie, and her immune system might have been compromised because of that too. But still.. something does not add up. I would have the doctors run all the blood tests they want to, and have them check for all the little things as well as the bigger ones. It is always good to have insurance for things like blood tests.. they are very expensive but in this case seem to be necessary.
I did a search to see what I could find for you and found this:
http://www.cff.org/AboutCF/Faqs/
It is a website all about Cystic Fibrosis. I surely hope she does not have it. Good luck and make the doctor run all the tests he or she will. Sometimes that is the only way to an answer.

Weight boosters are loaded with protein. Ask the doctor if it's possible that she has a protein disorder.
Also, kids get fevers. It's a bodys natural method of ridding itself of viruses.

If your child is part African American, have her checked for Sickle Cell Anemia.
