My 63 year old mom discovered a hard nodule on her thyroid gland.?!
Question: My 63 year old mother (with the personality and energy of a 30 year old), just found out today that she has a hard nodule on her thyroid gland. According to the cat scan the technician said that the nodule is somewhat large, hard, and is not filled with liquid, but there is minor blood-flow in it. It is not yet known if the nodule is benign or malignant. Mom is a nervous wreck, as are me and my sister about this. Mom is seeing another doctor tomorrow morning to be diagnosed and possibly be sent to an endocrinologist the next day - for a possibly biopsy or treatment. Have you or anyone that you ever known experienced this type of thing, and if so, what were the results. Was the treatment to remove the thyroid, to take medication? Or if it was actually thyroid cancer, whatdid that person do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
