My son has eczema and it can get pretty bad at times. We try to keep it under control but it's especially difficult when he gets it on his hands and it becomes torture for him to even wash his hands. At his worst we put on the doctor's prescribed ointment, bandages over that and then have him slip on either mittens or socks over his hands so he can't itch it all off. Until you can get her in to see the doctor, try hydrocortisone cream or ointment mixed with an unscented hypallergenic lotion. Keeping the skin lubed up and well moisturized is key so we go through tons of Aquaphor or Eucerin at our house. Good luck.

Cold can help releive the itching. Also OTC hydrocortizone cream will help. You can give her benadryl if there is any swelling or severe itching. I used to get eczema breakouts all the time, but now I just use creamy vaseline a few times a week or more. Eczema is usually because of severly dry skin, so if you can stop the dry skin, you can get ahead of the eczema. Try the creamy vaseline its the cheapest and works great, or another lotion without alcohol or fragrance (same idea with soap). The pharmacist at where ever you go can recomend something. Regular vaseline will work too if you have it, but is greasy.

DEPENDING ON.... Your daughter's age, how long she's had the problem, and how it actually looks and feels.
If she is of the age for a pediatrician ... look in the phone book under "Doctor's Referral". Get the names of several in your area. If you know anyone at all in your community ask if they know of a good one. Do not put this off - if the skin has open sores, if it's weeping (oozing liquid) and/or if she cries or says it hurts....take her to a doctor NOW.(He may refer you to a specialist.) There are antibiotics that are over the counter like Neosporin... BUT, if the hands have any of the above symptoms it could make things worse.
If she is past the Pediatrician age then follow the same advice as above only ask DIRECTLY for Dermatoligist referrals, If you have anyone near you, friend, family or neighbor...again, ask if they know one personally. If she has any of the symptoms described above it is important to take her now. If she is suffering you may want to take her to your closest emergency room. Most of them have a specialist on duty or on call - 24/7.
They will ask questions about changes in her diet and environment (contact with "?" chemicals, plants, animals, new shampoo, soap....and more!) be prepared to answer.
Again, if she's experiencing any of the above symptoms PLEASE don't wait for "an opening" with A DOCTOR. Take action and find someone qualified NOW.
I hope you will find help for your daughter soon. Wishing you all a successful and healing treatment / experience.

hydrocortisone cream. That's what the doctor/dermotologist will most likely prescribe. For now, if you don't have a prescription, use vaseline.

You should get some Transfer Factors.Eczema is caused by an immune problem and if you fix that problem she should be fine. You also get the added bonus of stronger immune protection so less colds and flu ect.If you would like to know more email me r.runzer@yahoo.com and I can send you lots of info or go to my online shop
