Is coffee okay for people with type 2 diabeties????????!

Question: I have seen studies that say that coffee increases blood glucose in some diabetics, while other studies say that coffee helps prevent Type 2 diabetes.

Go figure.

In general, if you avoid adding sugar and a lot of milk (carbs) to it, it should *technically* be fine and have no impact on glucose levels.

However, some diabetics do report that caffeine/coffee does seem to raise their blood sugar.

The only way to know is to test your blood sugar after consuming plain coffee. If it seems to be causing a problem, adjust your insulin/medication, or cut it out.

I would suggest Stevia, a natural herbal sweetner, over Splenda or Equal.

yes it is ok to drink coffee with type 2 diabetes. Just watch you're sugar intake with it. If you like sweet coffee, consider an artificial sweetener, such as Splenda. Also be aware of sugar content in cream or milk you are using.

Yes, and it won't hurt if you use just a tad sugar if that is the way you like it. My mum in law drinks coffee on a daily basis, and she is type 2 as well.

yes it is, just watch the cream and sugar. if you are worried, take your blood sugar a few hours after drinking the coffee to see how it affects it.
