Cough and sore throat due to allergies?!

Question: What can you do if you have a sore throat and cough from allergies?I know it's an allergy because I only have congestion some mornings.Usually when the room is too warm.Plus aside from the cough and sore throat, I feel just fine.I don't have fatigued or anything that a cold makes you feel.Course my cough could be from post nasal drip. All I know is it's pretty much a throat cold.

You are experiencing the aftermath of allergic sensitivity to airborne irritants.

Allergic reactions to inhalants, be they pollens, dust, molds, etc., cause the mucous membranes to secrete lymph in an attempt to wash away the irritants. When the irritation persists, the constantly produced mucous begins to dry and thicken, providing a warm, moist, dark place for airborne bacteria to land and colonize into what become pussy infections.

Doctors are good at prescribing medicines that can help to control various stages of the irritation and after effects. But unless you isolate the triggering causes and reduce your exposure to them, it will keep repeating. So start thinking back and keep a diary describing your surroundings until you can figure out what the initial triggers might be.

It is complicated, because what can in one case be a trigger, when there has been prior exposure to some other irritant, can not appear to be a trigger when taken by itself. That is to say, sometimes allergic irritants have a way of masking reactions to other irritants. This is most typical of food allergies, which also cause nasal and sinus irritation.

A well-balanced nutritional program including minerals, trace elements, vitamins, and anti-oxidants, is the foundation for building a health recovery program. Your first defense against allergic irritations are robust and healthy nose, throat, and sinus membranes.

I used to suffer from asthma and frequent post-allergic infections until I tried taking some nutritional supplements that helped me overcome it. Now I enjoy clear sinuses year-round.

Sore throats and coughs are the worst! I went through the same thing last year this time, and it was horrible! It lasted a whole month! But I also had a really bad earache too! I finally pushed my pride to the side and went to the doctor. He said that I most likely had developed allergies, and the reason my throat hurt and the reason I was coughing, was due to the fact that fluid from my ears was draining into my throat...ewwww. So anyways, he gave me a prescription for a nasal spray. I was to spray it up each nostril at a 90 degree angle, without breathing in through my nostrils while I was doing it, 3 times a day. And actually, within 2 days, my earache had stopped and my throat felt much better! He said nasal spray is supposed to help post nasal drip, so I'd give it a try :)

For almost a year now, I haven't had a single sore throat or cough, and I haven't even gotten a cold. Last year, I was basically sick from January to April!! What I've been doing different this past year, is I've been taking a good multi-vitamin (I've been taking Centrum Advantage) twice a day, every day, and it has helped soooo much in preventing me from getting sick/colds in the first place! I'd highly recommend it to anyone!

Good luck getting over your "cold"!

Put a humidifier in your bed room. Take a teaspoon of LOCAL honey each day to help your body develop immunities to all the air born irritants around you including mold-which could have developed over the winter. Like all herbal remedies, it will take awhile to become effective but its because your body is acclimating itself to the irritants. This really works, is 100% natural and won't hurt you rarther you will be healthier as the local honey takes effect.

If the sore throat and cough prevent you from performing day to day task seek out medical advise from you Doctor. If it is just irrigating for you, OTC cough drops will help. The problem could be post nasal drip related to allergies. Nonetheless I would see my physician.

Here are a few simple home remedies that will help to overcome cough. Suck a whole clove without chewing it to soothe a cough. Apples bring a great relief to a person with dry cough. Check out http://useinfo6.blogspot.com/ for more remedies and information.
