Found a lump in my ...?!

Question: please help..
for this past 3 weeks my breasts have been really sore. and i thought this was just due to coming off the pill after 7 years. but then i felt like a ball inside like its under my nipple.
but its in both breasts.
i asked my granny to check and feel to see what she thought and she couldnt feel any lump, until i squeezed my breast for her and thats when she felt it. she said it was just like the root of my nipple but then she said it does feel like a ball.
i have an appointment with my GP next week, but im absolutely terrified.

my breasts are really sore in the morning.. and im 22.

please advise me until i get to the doc. im terrified, really scared. i cant stop crying and im cryin as i write this...

Take a nice deep breath dear, and calm down. I'm 99.9% sure that you do not have breast cancer. First of all, you are young. Most breast cancer does not occur till after age 50. Not that it can't happen, but it's rare.
Secondly, in the medical field, we don't worry too much about things that occur bilaterally (on both sides). If somehting, such as a lump, occurs on both sides, then it is usually just part of normal human anatomy. It's the unilateral things we worry about (like a single lump in the breast).
Thirdly, lumps around or near the nipple account for less than one percent of all breast cancers. Most lumps are found in the upper outer quandrant.... not by the nipple.
All of these factors in conjuction with one another lead to be believe that you do not have breast cancer.
So relax sweetie! Go to your doc an have this confirmed. It will give you more peace of mind than some woman on the internet will... good luck!

Try to remain calm until you get to see your doctor. Most lumps found within the breast are not cancerous but it is important that this gets checked out quickly. You are doing the right thing. Good luck!!

I don't think cancerous lumps are painful so it may be a cyst which is common. I will say if you keep checking it, it will become even more sore until you are convinced it is serious. Don't play doctor just get the checkup.

I had the same problem, i had lumps in both of my breast and they were very painful. mine was just a cyst. you should still get it checked by your doctor to make sure, but i was told by my sisters mother in law that did go through breast cancer that her lumps in her breast were not painful at all.
