Answers: It's been a raging debate between my friends...

yes and no. if the herpes infection is on the penis or inside the vagina, yes a normal latex male condom will prevent transmission. if the herpes is not on the penis, or is on the females external genitalia, a normal condom will not protect. if the herpes is on the female's external genitalia, a female condom will help prevent transmission.

nothing is 100%

no

No u cannot prevent herpes with a condom. I can pass through a condom, so dont try it.

while not having an oubreak possilbly. but condoms don't cover all areas that herpes can spread to so they are not all that effective agains herpes. it takes skin to skin contact in the genital area outside of where a condom covers then its still possible to contract herpes. specially if the person is having an outbreak.
condoms more or less can help to prevent pregnancy if the don't break or slip off.

It will reduce the likely hood of getting it,slightly.

No. Herpes can be found on the inner thighs and anal region. So condoms do not always protect against it.

Condoms are best bet to prevent spread of herpes virus.

There is no known cure for either of these forms of herpes but there are
prescription and natural treatments that can lessen the length and the
severity of an outbreak.

The best line of defense is to always use a condom during intercourse. A condom
is not 100% effective but it will greatly reduce the risk.

So my answer for you is that they definately prevent the herpes virus. So whomever said that a condom prevents herpes is right. For more information, Click the souce. :-)

Good Luck!

Hope I helped!

It will reduce the risk. That is, it will reduce the chances getting/transmiting disease significantly. However, it can not fully guaranty that you will not get infected, especially when area affected is not covered with condom.

It slows it down. Sort of like rain slows down freeway traffic. But the places where you get herpes are often the places that the condom doesn't cover. Honestly is the best policy, and suppression therapy.

No, you can not prevent herpes because you use a condom because, the condom does not cover all the skin that herpes can affect. It just covers the penis.

No. The maximum protection gained is about 40%.

It provides more protection for an uninfected female partner with an infected male partner than it does for an uninfected male partner with an infected female partner.

This is probably because women tend to have external outbreaks and the infectious skin is not covered by a condom.

Neither does a condom prevent you from acquiring any of the hpv (warts) viruses.

Condoms always run a risk. That is why there is no real "safe sex" practice. It can always break or something could happen, that's why they're not 100% effective. I would say that using a condom is way better than using nothing at all. I ALWAYS used condoms with a previous partner of mine who had herpes (and he was honest about it before we started our relationship). I never contracted it, so there is a good chance the other person may never get it. But it's a decision both people need to make together and the one with the herpes should ALWAYS be upfront and honest with the other person beforehand. Good luck.
