They check for HIV and syphilis, and they will tell you if you have those and not let you give again.

However, there are so many STDs. You should go to a doctor, tell him/her you're sexually active, and get tested by blood and pap smear for everything they can test for. That includes: syphilis, gonorrhea, drug-resistant gonorrhea, HIV, chlamydia, herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2, and human papilloma virus (venereal warts). You should get the series of shots for HPV. You should return for treatment for whatever they find, if it's treatable, since many of these can be silent infections and can affect your future ability to have children. Then, you should use condoms for everything. Learn to use them properly.

as far as i know, they will tell you if you have a disease, especially if its AIDS or something very serious.
you should have gotten a sheet that let you know something about that before you gave blood.

It really depends on the clinic which is collecting blood. A large metropolitan area may just discard your blood as unusable and only contact you if it is a major health risk.

You can literally get hundreds of things tested through a blood test, from cholesterol to allergies to diseases. Your doctor will check the appropriate tests on a sheet when you request an STD test.

What many people don't know is that rare STDs are most likely not being checked, it is up to the doctor's discretion to decide what you will be checked for.

They'd definitely tell you.
