Can I use Medi-Cal In North Carolina?!

Question: I have Medi-Cal from California, but I moved to North Carolina and I'm sick with the flu and my employer will want to see proof of my illness. Will the hospitals out here take my card?

No. You have to go and reapply to the MediCare system. MediCal is the younger (not senior) adult, child MediCare application that California has put together. And in California you need to reapply every time you change counties because it's county administered.

Your best bet is to contact the county hospital where you now live and find out what adult clinics they have. Let them know you need a same day appt and they should get you through the process of applying for whatever state mediated insurance that they have.

Good luck.
