Every one goes through such phase in life. It is a cycle. In this phase small problem lokks like hill. When u compare the people who struggle for food, suffering from painful deceases, handicapped etc. u feel that u r much better placed. I feel you need to think positive and know that this phase is temporary and your about to enter into good phase where life is beautiful and peaceful.

I'd go and see your quack mate, i wouldn't say depression but you are feeling low my answer would be: go down the pub

Go to the Dr's and get checked you do sound depressed but have them check everything before they put you on meds. I had a neighbor die this last summer because she was depressed and they put her on all kinds of meds after she died they did a autopsy on her to find out she had a underlying problem with her thyroid and that is what caused the depression in the first place. Have them do a complete work up on you. Sometimes physical problems can mimic depression. good luck

Hi Steve

You could be suffering from depression and if so see your doctor. The symptoms you describe indicate this but you could just be suffering from low self-esteem. See the answer to the question How can I improve my self esteem - it might, just might help.

As far as the lumps are concerned mention this to the doctor to. In fact make this the reason to visit and discuss the rest with him/her.

Good luck and take care.

well yes, they would seem more down that usually with a more negative attitude etc.

depression has many different forms you need to speak to a doctor or councillor

Taking a look at your symptoms, I have no idea, it could be Autism, Borderline Personality, Bipolar Disorder...I don't know.
You know, people could just type in random answers that's not even close to the truth just for two points. These symptoms are not symtoms you should have to enjoy life, and life is short...you should go see a docter.

seems to me you have 'blue' world, it sound like depression (perhaps moderate), but to call it depression, the symptom must persist for at least 2 weeks.

Here is some text from Diagnostic and statistical manual IV, this is diagnostic criteria for depression
(note :this is for major depression, if you didn't fullfill all of this criteria, but have some of in the list, you might having mild or moderate depression. Call your healthcare provider)

The DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria for a major depressive episode are as follows:

A. At least 5 of the following, during the same 2-week period, representing a change from previous functioning; must include either (a) or (b):
(a) Depressed mood
(b) Diminished interest or pleasure
(c) Significant weight loss or gain
(d) Insomnia or hypersomnia
(e) Psychomotor agitation or retardation
(f) Fatigue or loss of energy
(g) Feelings of worthlessness
(h) Diminished ability to think or concentrate; indecisiveness
(i) Recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal ideation, suicide attempt, or specific plan for suicide

B. Symptoms do not meet criteria for a mixed episode (ie, meets criteria for both manic and depressive episode).

C. Symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment of functioning.

D. Symptoms are not due to the direct physiologic effects of a substance or a general medical condition.

E. Symptoms are not better accounted for by bereavement, ie, the symptoms persist for longer than 2 months or are characterized by marked functional impairment, morbid preoccupation with worthlessness, suicidal ideation, psychotic symptoms, or psychomotor retardation.

It sounds like the same exact symptoms that myself any many others have if you find out I would like to know if indeed there is something wrong or it is just life?
