25 Year Old Female - VERY VERY NERVOUS/SCARED!!!!!! -?!
Question: So, I got an urgent call today (voicemail)
saying that I need to call no later than Monday, April 7th....and ask for triage nurse. This is my regular doctor's office.
I had results to my blood tests, EKG, and Chest X-Ray sent to their office.
I'm VERYYYYYY SCARED!!!!!
Some of the blood tests were:
CBC
CMP
Iron/TIBC
Fasting Insulin
Folate
Uric Acid
TSH
I'm thinking the worst thing here.
I got these tests as just a work-up for Gastric Bypass surgery in like 5 months.......

Dont be scared. Did you tell your PCP that you were gonna have this surgery? Be positive, maybe they found out why you cant lose weight, your TSH could be low. Now no surgery. Worrying aboiut it will not help anyway, you cant find out anything until monday anyways, So think of all the positive things they could be calling to tell you.
first of all, all your tests were done about five months ago, right? And you don't feel sick? right? Did you have fasting insulin or fasting glucose? since you were going to do a gastric bypass, I assume that you are fat. so it could just be simple diabetes (high sugar). TSH is for your thyroid. if there was something wrong with your tyroid, you would have noticed it. besides, that could be fixed by a simple pill too.
Well they are checking to make sure that you are not a diabetic that would take care of the fasting insulin. The CBC is a complete blood count which checks your red and white blod cell counts, your hemoglobin(iron). The blood cells can tell the doctor is you have an infection already brewing inside of your body. If you are having gastriv bybass in about 5 months there are things that you probably need to do to prepare your body for the surgery. I don't think that I would worry to much. Just call and get it out of the way and be done with it.
It could just be that you've got some things that have got to be brought into line before they will let you get the bypass.
Maybe your blood sugar is out of whack.
They like to be sure that you are in the best shape possible before having a bypass.
