What's the best way to end a fever?!

Question: The vast majority of feverish illness is viral and thus has no treatment per se, only management. This means using ant-pyretics like paracetamol and ibuprofen to lower the temperature, while the body disposes of the virus on it's own.

There has been a number of papers about over the last few years, questioning the evidence base of treating fever at all. The rationale behind these is that fever is part of our body defence system, not only does raising the temperature help to kill organisms, it also speeds up the immune system which helps defeat them.

Give yourself a rubbing alcohol, bath.

The best thing to do is nothing. Fevers actually get your white blood cells moving so that they can fight the infection. If it goes above 104, take some Tylenol, otherwise, just ride it out.

sex then a hot long shower try it it works

Take some aspirin/ibuprofen/Tylenol.

I've always heard you should feed a cold and starve a fever. So you should just drink liquids and lots of them, get plenty of bed rest and take a fever reducer if it gets too high.

Hope you feel better soon!

Only your immune system defeating the invading organism can result in an end of the fever.

A fever comes about as a response that the body has to an infection. It is the body's attempt to raise the temperature in order to kill off the organism. Once the organism is under control then the body can lower the temperature and the fever is then 'broken'. The body can then return to it's normal non infected state.

If you are suffering from a virus then you just have to wait. If it's due to a more serious bacterial infection then the doctor may prescribe antibiotics.

You can relieve a fever by taking Paracetamol or Ibuprofen, by taking a tepid bath, by putting a fan on in the room and by trying to keep cool.

Other than that, you just have to wait.
