HELP!? Diabetes Related...?!

Question: If I'm 12, But I Think I Might Have Diabetes Because I Have Many Of The Symptoms, But I Eat A Lot Of Sugar, What Type Would I POSSIBILY Have? Type 1 or Type 2??

And Also, If I Do Get Blood Work That Shows I DO Have Diabetes, What Can I Eat That Tastes Good But Doesn't
Put Me In Danger Of Getting My Sugar Level Out Of Whack?

Thanks!

There are two types of diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2. Although they are both forms of diabetes, they are two different diseases. Only 5% of all diabetics have type 1.

Type 1 is an auto-immune disease and usually occurs in childhood, which is why it's also called Juvenile Diabetes. It's not caused from eating too much junk food, sugar, or having a poor lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent type 1 diabetes and there is currently no cure, although scientists say they are very close.

Type 2 on the other hand, usually developes in adults and developes slowy over a period of time. This is usually caused by obesity or by poor diet and lifestyle. Type 2 actually can be prevented.

Here are some of the symptoms of Type 1 diabetes. Some of them might apply to type 2 also, but I'm not completely sure...

*Increased thirst
*Frequent urination
*Increased appetite
*Drowsiness, Lethargy
*Sudden weight loss
*Sugar in urine
*Sudden vision changes
*Heavy, labored breathing
*Stupor, Unconsciousness
*Fruity, Sweet, or wine - like odor on breath

Hope this helps!

Rest assured that sugar doesn't cause diabetes. Get your blood tested and get back to us if you test positive (not very likely).

if you have diabeties it would be type 1
if you have these symptoms
Frequent urination
Extreme thirst
Extreme hunger
Weight loss
Fatigue
Irritability
Blurred vision
Then you NEED to go to the doctor they are the only person who can tell for sure if you have diabeties

if you have a friend with diabeties ask them to test your blood sugar
70-120 is normal
120-200 means you might have it
200 and up means you probly have it

hope this helps you can email me if u have any more questions:)

the chances of you having type 2 are very very small. If you have diabetes it would be type 1.

If you have it, you would take insulin to keep your blood sugar levels under control and you'd be able to eats just about anything as long as you learn how to balance your insulin with your carbohydrate intake.

Get checked out by a doctor, but I doubt you have diabetes.

you have diabetes type1 .you must immediately consult endocrinologist, because already complications of diabetic is seen(blurred vision),it is due to affection of blood vessels of retina, they will prescribe you diet control and insulin therapy.its better to treat before getting other serious complications, sorry if i am harsh

I am also 12 years old and i have type 1 diabetes. now some symptoms u have may be..
always thirsty
always going to the bathroom
rapid weight loss
blurry vision
these are symptoms for type 1 but i dont know much about type 2, u are also at risk if other family members have it. although i only have a great aunt and 2nd cousin that have it and its type 2. i just learned i have diabetes last thursday so its been about a week. now for eating, u can have pretty much ANYTHING u want! except, u should stay away from pop (u can have as much diet pop as u want) u can have as many hamburgers u want ( no bun tho!) any meat really, also u can have eggs (1 carb per egg!) i love peanut butter as well. And..u didnt do this too yourself, like u didnt eat too much sugar or anything, it just happens because it has too. dont be scared, it will be OK! good luck! =]
