Antibiotic & alcohol?!

Question: I took an antibiotic at about noon today, it was a powder that dissolves in water and only a single dose. According to the package, I can't take an antacid while on it, and I hear you can't drink. How long do I have to wait until I can do both again? Thanks!

24 hours. The antibiotic's half life is usually a couple of hours. So, its utilized quickly. Alcohol can't interfere with anything afterwards. You can honestly drink while taking the medicine, but its will hinder its affects slightly, but not enough not to work.

Alcohol is just like antacids. The companies release pharmacology reports on the drugs, with information like absorption rates for the drugs user that are fasting and not fasting. They usually see minor differences between the groups, so they have to note it. Its standard practice to test antacids and drug interaction, because antacids always affect drugs since they decrease stomach acid and stomach acid is responsible for breaking the drugs into its active molecules. I've research the technical reports and its not a big deal, the drugs will still work, alcohol or antacids. The human body is amazing!

Don't drink for at least five days but you should be able to take an antacid tomorrow.

You should not drink alcohol untill at least 4 days post antibiotic cause the alc will interfere with the effectivness of the antibiotic. For example it can cancel the effect out, therefore, the ABT will not work.
