Does anyone know what this rash could be?!

Question: My son was complaining of his back itching this morning and he took his shirt off and it was all whelped up from him scratching it. I thought it was an allergic reaction to something, but there really is nothing it could be. He is on allergy meds everyday for the past 3 years. I made him shower and I washed his back good. I haven't let him scratch it and now this is what it looks like. A rash just on his back, no where else. He is 9. Hasn't been sick except a little coughing here and there. His temp is 99.6 F right now, but that honestly isn't far off from his normal temp. His is usually 99.2, so maybe a slight fever, but not by much. He doesn't feel sick, but I am curious as of what it could be. Haven't heard from the Dr. yet...I have put a call in.

From what you stated and the pictures, it does NOT appear to exzema, chicken pox, measles, dry skin, nor airborne allergy reaction. It does appear to be an allergic reaction to the shirt. If the shirt is not new, it could be in the laundry soap or fabric softener. When children exert themselves, the back warms up & pores are open to 'inhale' what is close or touching. Kids don't sweat under their arms. But do get damp around their hairline of the head & neck but the shirt wasn't touching that. Perhaps you did not change any detergent nor fabric softener but it wasn't rinsed thoroughly or had more in it than usual.

Thorough washing with soap & water & allow air dry. Rewash shirt.

Just my 2 cents.

"Anti-Allergy" Medications work against only one type of allergy (Type 1 Allergy). There are four types of allergies total, Contact Allergies (Type 4) and blood-borne (Types 2 and 3) still occur, because they involve a totally different process than Type 1 allergies.

My 7 year old had a rash like that once. It began on his chest, and eventually spread to his back and arms and legs. He also had a high fever and complained of dizziness. I took him to the dr. and they told me it was viral. It took a few weeks for it to go away.

Also, if you apply pressure to it and it turns white it is nothing to worry about. If it stays red then it's something more serious.

well... i have read what you have said and i am guessing its eczema and sometimes that turns into integer suggest u see the doctor and they will tell you what it is unless he is getting chicken pox as alot of people have got it lately
