Weird clear bumps on lip?!

Question: It's not like a regular cold sore that you get inside your lip. these are a clump of clear bumps (kind of like a blister w/o the liquid stuff?) on left and right sides of my bottom lip. i've tried putting on blistex and other chapstick but it's not going away! it used to sting a bit b4 but now not so much except right after i eat; i've had it for about 3-4 days now. any idea on what this may be? should i just wait for it to disappear (will it disappear?) or should i contact my doctor?

What you have is a classic cold sore. The ones *inside* your lip and mouth are called "canker sores."

There are a couple of meds you can buy with no prescription, which, btw, used to be prescrip. only, which work quite well. They are also expensive. One is Abreva; you pay between 13-18 dollars US for it, and apply it 5 times the first day you use it. Then your cold sore, or fever blister, as some people call it, will go away. It may take a couple of days, since it's been on your lip for so long already, but at least it won't get even bigger and start to bleed and scab over. (Yuk!)

If you ask your pharmacist/chemist, he or she can tell you the name of the other o-t-c med, which is even more expensive, and even more helpful, from what my pharmacist told me. But I'm too cheap. Good luck. :)

EDIT: Yes, it is called Herpes Simplex One, and is in NO WAY related to genital herpes, so don't worry. And I can guarantee that, although there didn't used to be a cure, there is one now, so there is no need for you to needlessly suffer. (Not to pick on the person who replied before me, but I am 100% sure I'm correct about this.) Oh, and this is a virus that, once you have it in your system, never goes away, although the sore does. So be careful not to spread it, although, to be honest, most people already have had it at least once, so it's in their system already. Most people don't have frequent outbreaks, but some people, when under a lot of stress, have an outbreak. My daughter is one of those people, so I always keep some Abreva on hand.

I think you should ask your doctor about it and get his opinion

...it can be herpes check your doctor before your whole lip gets infected with it..they will give you a cure.

it is herpes, it wont kill you but dont kiss til it's gone
have you went down on anyone? on a rare occasion you can get herpes 2 where where herpies one should be (your mouth)

of coarse it disappears

where you eating salt and vinegar chips? lol

herpes 1 and 2 are not related?? my a** they are not and interchangeable too.. you can get one or two in your eyes, mouth, nose and genitals if your not careful.. no way related? idiot... also it is a mild but contagious skin condition 1 and 2 and both herpes.. don't spread it to yourself or others
