I think I have herpes.?!

Question: A few years ago (in 7th grade), I got a high fever and sore lips. I now think it was (is) herpes. I get it about once every 3 months, and it doesn't bother me too much. But, since I have never kissed or have done anything "naughty", I don't know how I could have gotten it. No one I know has it. Wierd.

But it's not the normal cold sores that everyone talks about. It's spread all over my lips, like little bumps or blisters. It gets a little painful at times, but feels better when I use my chapstick. So do I have herpes?

I already know that I do, I just wanna make sure which strand I might have.

Most people (50% to 80%) have oral herpes by the time they are adults - although they usually don't have as bad a case as you have. They catch it in childhood from kissing relatives. And while you say that you've never kissed anyone, I'll bet your Mom and Grandmother and all sorts of people kissed you when you were a small child.

The next time you get these sores, please go to the doctor and ask them to confirm a diagnosis of herpes. If it is indeed herpes, then there are antiviral medications that you can take (some of which are quite inexpensive) that will reduce the severity of your outbreaks. Only a test can confirm that it is herpes - the rest of us are just guessing about a diagnosis through the computer.

Know that, if it is herpes, symptoms tend to lessen over time. As the years pass, the outbreaks tend to come less often and be less severe.

Good luck.

don't know much about the situation but you could be haven a reaction to a lip gloss or any other cosmetics you may put on your lips

"normal" cold sores are herpes...there are different types of herpes....buy some blistex if it goes away you are fine ....also if it is in one specific place (even if it changes areas each time you get one) and doesn't spread to your mouth, cheeck ect. it is not the std type of herpes

Cold sores are caused by the Herpes simplex virus I and 2 or HSV 1 and HSV 2, This is also assoiated with vaginal herpes.
You may have caught this from anyone, usually a parent passes this on to the children or a friend that has it. Just touching another person that has the fluid from a blister on thier hands can pass this on.

It takes from several days to two weeks for these to heal. Don't touch them, let them dry and heal, up to ten days. Keep them moist with "Blistex" or "Carmex"

I knew someone while I was in school that had the same problem. His entire mouth would be covered in blisters that never seemed to heal completely. When they did they came back. The older he got the less they came until they pretty much stopped coming at all.
I think he went to an allergy specialist. You might want to try that. See if it could be something in your diet or environment that can be eliminated.
I get blisters sometimes on my mouth, one or two at a time and the way I have found to prevent them is to do what you can to boost your immune system. A daily glass of Orange juice might prevent them. I kid you not.

u could have shared something with someone that has cold sores like, chapstick, ciggaretts, drinks, utensils. oral herpes are not always transmitted through sex. or someone could have kissed u when u were a baby and they had cold sores at the time.
