Is this bulemic?!

Question: I have never been diagnosed with an ED, but lately I've been wondering if I have one. I eat throughout the day most of the time, others I fast. Then when it comes to late night I binge and then throw up. Sometimes I do it because I'm starving other times I do it because I just want food. It's not like I'm throwing up every meal so doesn't that mean I'm fine?

There are numerous questions that you have to answer first..

For example, do you think you are fat and thus you feel guilty after eating and want to throw everything up? or do eat until so full that you just throw up? do you have any stresses recently that you think might be the cause of you eating?

These are just some of the many questions you have to answer.

I would advice you to go to your General Practitioner or a local psychiatrist to have a chat if you are really concern..

These below is the Diagnostic Criteria (DSM-IV) for Bulimia Nervosa:
A. Recurrent episodes of binge eating. An episode of binge eating is characterized by both the following:

(1) eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g. within any 2-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than most people would eat during a similar period of time and under similar circumstances.
(2) a sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g. a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eat)

B. Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behavior in order to prevent weight gain, such as self-induced vomiting;misuse of laxatives, diuretics, enemas, or other medications; fasting; or excessive exercise.

C. The binge eating and inappropriate compensatory behaviors both occur, on average, at least twice a week for 3 months

D.Self-evaluation is unduly influenced by body shape and weight

E. The disturbance does not occur exclusively during episodes of anorexia nervosa.

Specific type:

Purging type: during the current episode of bulimia nervosa, the person has regularly engaged in self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas.

Non-purging type: during the current episode of bulimia nervosa, the person has used other inappropriate compensatory behaviors, such as fasting or excessive exercise, but has not regularly engaged in self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas.

I'm a Senior Medical Student

Sounds like the start of a eating disorder you should talk to someone that is a professional now before you have a real tough time down the road. good luck

It's binge eating mixed with bulemia and it is serious. If its not every meal eventually it will be. It's very easy for them to get out of hand and very hard to correct once they've been started. I'd seek help as soon as possible if I were you.

This is bluemia. Any throwing up food it bule.

This is bulemia. Talk to a counselor or teacher or parent immediately! There is a lot of damage you can cause even if you maintain your weight and do not puke every meal. When you vomit, your stomach acid burns the lining of you throat, mouth, and esophogas. You can get cancer from this! I know it sounds a little outrageous, but there is alot more to this than wanting to eat some food.
