Effexor XR and E.D.?!

Question: I've been taking effexor for a few months now. It really helped with my social anxiety and depression. I even have a girlfriend now. There is a problem. The effexor is giving me E.D.

I'm 22 years old and this should not be happening to me. I've never had any type of sexual problems before. Before I started taking effexor I had a very high sex drive. I did notice a decrease in sexual desire once I started taking the medication. This is causing problems for me and girlfriend. This makes me feel worse than I did before I started taking the medication.

I just need some advice and not having sex with my girlfriend is not an option. Is there anything I can do to counteract the effexors effect on my libido? Also, will this problem go away if I stop taking the effexor? How long will it take before my libido returns to normal?

Decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; have been mentioned as side effects of Venlafaxine (Effexor) . Though it is not mentioned but these effects may be temporary and go away on cessation of the therapy or fade on continuation for longer period.
Discuss these issues with your doctor.
Good luck!

Sorry, dude, but that side effect goes along with almost every anti-depressant, in guys. Talk to your doc, but don't get your hopes up. If you quit Effexor, make sure you do so very
gradually....who knows....with a new girlfriend, maybe you don't need it anymore. That would be great, huh?
OHHH...just remembered....one of my ex's used an anti-depressant, and he definitely did not have ED....think it was called Trazodone....ask your doctor.

you should go to your doc maybe theres something else he can give you,
