HIV symptoms?! Or cold!?!

Question: I had a low risk exposure about 6 weeks ago. I am now experiencing a weird throat problem. It is not very soar, maybe minor. I feel very congested. I also have a cough. I have no rash, feel energetic, lymph nodes are normal to minimal inflation. Feels like I have flem that is hard to get up. Is this Acute HIV/turning into Acute HIV or sound like something allot like a regular cold that everyone has around me.

I went through a very similar scare recently and had tons of HIV related symptoms. I was too scared to go to the doctor for a test as I knew it would come back positive.

As it was I went for a test six months after the exposure and it came back negative and following those results I wish I took action sooner (and to this day I am kicking myself about it, but relieved of the results).

It is important to do a test three months after the exposure and then six months. However you can nearly be assured after the three month period the results will be near conclusive.

It is also important to note HIV symptoms are basically all symptoms related to a damaged immune system. Stress can damage your immune system and result in you feeling like you have HIV symptoms.

Do not live in fear and do not worry as it is probably nothing and just stress or you noticing every little illness you have. The 'Fight or Flight Response' is what you are probably suffering.

Most people who get HIV do get a fever weeks after exposure similar to flu and this is a very noticable fever.

Do not punish yourself about unprotected sex as many people have done this, but in the future practice safe sex.

Graet question go get a blood test and maybe someothers immediately and if hiv take the pills if not ur very lucky! keep in mind it can lie dormant and reoccur some other time, it is a very good hider!

it probably is just a normal cold. you should just go and get tested anyway just to make sure though. it is possable that it could be your bodies early immune response to HIV infection--but again, it is much more likely that it is just a cold.

chances are more likely that its just a cold, especially if you are around people who have similar symptoms.

if you had exposure 6 weeks ago you should get a test regardless of these symptoms. wait a few more weeks (you need to take the test 3 to 6 months after exposure. if negitive after 3 months take it again after 6 months). In the meantime, don't have sex or other activities that may expose other people should you be infected
