Inpatient care for Bulimia?!

Question: I have relapsed into bulimia for about four or five months. I am not thin, 5'2 & 124lbs. It is getting bad, and although I am seeing a therapist twice a week I feel its not getitng better, and perhaps is getting worse? I eat only when I know I will be able to throw up because I become physically in pain if I do not throw up after I eat. I was just wondering if inpatient care would help. I feel that I am not thin enough to go into an inpatient facility. Would it help? Feedback from anyone who has been or has the same issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello

I suffer from Bulimia as well and the fact that it never made me that thin (but very sick!) really got to me. I went into inpatient care not long ago and I felt the same way - that I didn't deserve to be there because I wasn't thin, but let me tell you, it was the best thing that I ever did. Everyone is sooo kind and supportive and you work with professionals who know these disorders inside and out. It will make you so much better and if your at the stage where its just too much for you then do it! I wish I had the reference but I am a dietetics student and I have researched this and bulimics can't get everything they puke out so just spewing won't make you thin- they have done research to prove this so its not cause your not sick enough!

Please look after yourself and good luck. email me if you want to talk about going into inpatient care.

Inpatient care would be the best! Its not really about being thin, believe it or not. Its a thinking and ontroling desease.
just like alcohol. eating dissorders will kill you.
Most people with eating dissorders have alcohol dependancy. They go hand in hand. Please go to inpateint treatment. You should be very proud of youreself for making the first move and addmitting the problem.
