Yes, humans can catch ringworm from cats because i did. I don't know about the medicine thing.

Yes, my daughter got it from our cat three years ago--she was kissing him on the mouth and I didn't know about it. Get the cat treated at the vet and you can buy Lotramin (spelling?) over the counter at the drugstore to treat the human ringworm. Keep the human ringworm infection covered with a bandaid, because it's contagious to others if someone touches it.

The human infection will typically last from a week and a half to two weeks with treatment.

Yes, you can catch ringworm from cats. I know several people that have caught if from there cats. One poor souls ended up getting it on her scalp and lost most of her hair. As for getting an OTC medicine I don't think there is any. I would suggest bringing the cat to the vet and then going to the doctor yourself to get some medicine.

She'll know.

Transmission occurs by direct contact between infected and non-infected individuals. It may be passed from dogs to cats and vice versa. It may also be passed from dogs or cats to people and vice versa. If a child has ringworm, he or she may have acquired it from a pet or from another child at school. Adult humans are relatively resistant to infection unless there is a break in the skin or there is suppression of the immune system (AIDS, chemotherapy, etc). Children are quite susceptible. Consult with your family physician if any family member develops suspicious skin lesions.

Transmission may also occur from the infected environment. The fungal spores may live in bedding or carpet for several months. They may be killed with a dilution of chlorine bleach and water (1 cup of chlorine bleach in a gallon of water) where it is feasible to use it.

i got a ring worm when we first bought our cat...so i'd say yes... i was really young... so my parents just took me to a regular doctor

Ringworm is a fungal infection which gives round crusty lesions on the skin it affects. There are antifungal creams for it but I have never heard of a cat having it.

Ringworm is a fungus and, yes, it is contagious. DO NOT use a cortisone. Cortisones lower your ability to fight infection. Get a good antifungal. A pharmacist could tell you what works OTC. If you need something prescription, an MD can prescribe. But, please, DO NOT put cortisone on it.

Ringworm is common fungal infection. Yes, you can get this infection from exposure to an infected cat or dog.
