when my toe nail grew into my skin it looked like a red bubble so they stuck a needle and popped it. i was freaking out [because i hate needles] but surprisingly it didn't hurt at all. then she gave me antibiotic cream to put on it every day and it went away after two weeks. it hurt alot, but later you can relax. don't be scared. they might not cut it off. go to the doctor the faster you treat it; the faster you get rid of it.

it happens to people alot. depending on how bad it is your doctor will do different things. if i were you i'd ask my parents to take me to a skin doctor.

they will cut it off
sorry
good luck wit that

They will disinfect the area, possibly numb it, then cut out the affected nail area.

Following injection of a local anaesthetic at the basis of the toenail and perhaps application of a tourniquet, the surgeon will remove (ablate) the edge of the nail growing into the flesh and destroy the matrix area with phenol to permanently and selectively ablate the matrix that is manufacturing the ingrown portion of the nail (i.e., the nail margin). This is known as a partial matrixectomy, phenolisation, phenol avulsion or partial nail avulsion with matrix phenolisation. Also, any infection is surgically drained. After this procedure, other suggestions on aftercare will be made, such as salt water bathing of the digit in question. The point of the procedure is that the nail does not grow back where the matrix has been cauterized and so the chances of further ingrowth are very low. The nail is slightly (usually one millimeter or so) narrower than prior to the procedure and is barely noticeable one year later. The surgery is advantageous because it can be performed in the doctor's office under local anesthesia with minimal pain following the intervention. Also, there is no visible scar on the surgery site and a nominal chance of recurrence.

they may book you at the hospital to have it cut out or they may even just numb your toe and remove the embedded part to give you relief from pain
good luck hope you are ok

That is easy. I had the same thing happen to me. I had an ingrown toenail on my big toe and had to go to a foot doctor and have him remove it. Not my whole toenail, just the sides where it gets ingrown. It is a somewhat painful procedure, but you are awake for it. They give you a couple of shots in your toe and start cutting away at the nail when it is numb. Afterwards it will be swollen and you have to levatate it for a few days. I had to walk around on my heel because it hurt to try to walk regular. I couldn't wear a shoe either. So if you can, use crutches. It will be easier. But don't worry, it is very simple and you will never have problems with it after that. I have had both done to my big toes and havne't had a problem since. It's been 6 years. Good luck!

OMG I had the exact same thing. It never goes away unless you do something about it. Mine was with me for 2 years going on and off. Don't pick at the scab, the doctor will freeze your toe and remove the whole nail, it's painless. That's what happened to me. After....this is a MUST. Change your shoes! Buy new shoes right away so it won't come back. Buy shoes that are slightly bigger than the ones you are wearing and make sure they are flat...not highheals (if you are a girl). I changed my shoes (yes after 2 years) and my toe problem vanished and never came back!

It is more then likely a ingrown toe nail.If it is infected they will have to treat you with antibiotics. If it is to bad they may need to lance it open.

When you go to the doctors, they will talk to you about how it feels, how it happened and such.
Make sure you are honest with them as they need to know the correct details of what to do.
They will probably remove the nail from your toe, and let it begin to grow again,
If not they will probably leave it for a week or so, and then make another appointment for you to see them.
If they do that, they may give you some sort of cream to use in the next week.
Don't worry though because all doctors know what they are doing.

Hope this helps! :)
