Sitting on public toilets. Trying on long pants etc without underwear on. Always wash newly bought clothes. When trying on shoes always make sure you have a sock or short stocking in your bag you can pick up viruses from other peoples feet. But most of all you can get it by sleeping with someone and not using condoms. Always be careful.

DONT HAVE SEX
good luck

You catch them from other people but I suppose if you got down with their dirty underwear .... let's not go there. You get them from other people.

no, you can't develop them...you catch them off infected people...or towels etc...depending on what the sti is. always be careful and you wont need to worry! :o) x

You have to have sexual contact with someone to contract an STI.

Thrush and BV can develop without sex, but the others are ones to take precautions against..

You have to get them off somebody who has them first.

They don't just develop out of nowhere. Bugaboo is right about thrush though I would class that as an STI. It can be transmitted thru sex however

All you have to do is know your stuff, keep it safe and don't be naive when you are planning to have sex x

The only one I know of that can emerge unto itself
sans sexual contact is herpes simplex of the skin
which can often be caused by Strep.
IE- Herpes Simplex and E.Multiforme can become
systemic and usually brought on by Strep.
The genital organs are not affected.
This mimics Metastatic Crohn's and Pyoderma Gangrenosum so it should be under doctor's care.
IV Meds are successful in treating this.

SAY NO TO ORAL SEX!!! AND STAY OF ROHIPNOL!!!

the answer. is in the question. you can only get infected by some body all ready infected.

Hey, Sweetie - Sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) / sexually transmitted illnesses (STI's) can only be contracted, by definition, through **transmission** from another person. Every STD / STI is caused by a particular pathogen (disease-causing agent), whether a virus or a bacterium. And, since "spontaneous generation" (abiogenesis, or that pathogens just "appear" from nowhere) has been disproven, that means that the pathogens have to already be in existence. So, for a person to develop the STD / STI, the person in question must have come into contact with another person who already had the disease.

So, be careful and, most importantly, stay healthy !!
