What are some specific reasons a person would become an alcoholic?!

Question: i need specific reasons, not general ones

Answers: i need specific reasons, not general ones

I'm a recovered alcoholic ~ 6 years without a drink now ~ and to this day i still don't think i could tell you why ............... my mother used to ask me why and i used to tell her "Because i could" ......... i'm sorry that's a pretty lame answer but really and truly there is no rhyme or reason to why some people become hopelessly addicted to alcohol and some people can simply say no ............ some people say it's an inherent disease some people say it's because your body in particular doesn't metabolise the alcohol properly & yet others will say it's just because you have no self control ............ i believe for me it was a combination of being a little bit different than all the other little sheep ~ i always felt an intrinsic desire to heal people and was hideously shy as a child.... so when i could i started drinking in the false belief that it would give me confidence ......... blaaah, best ball and chain i ever got rid of ?

please take care of you ?
