Sex this morning--the condom broke?!

Question: My boyfriend and I had sex this morning (duh) and the condom broke, which happens every once in awhile. Normally what we do is rush to the shower, rinse out and wash thoroughly. I thought that I had gotten everything out, but just going to the bathroom this afternoon, a broken piece of the condom came out. Should I be worried?

Worried about what? Diseases and STD/STI's? Maybe. When's the last time your boyfriend got tested for STI's? When's the last HIV test? What were the results? How many partners has he had since then?

Pregnancy? Maybe. Even though you "rinse out and wash thoroughly", there may still be some sperm left to impregnate you. Of course, there might not be that many left, but still some left. So there's always a chance.

What to do now? Well, you could get to your local health clinic ASAP and get the morning after pill. This pill can be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex (or sex that lead to a condom breaking).

If getting pregnant now, or contracting a STI scares you, maybe you might want to consider waiting until you're married to have sex. That way, if get pregnant - it's all good!

Take care.

Unlucky.

maybe you should see a doctor. but i would try plan B to be sure to not get pregnant.

About what? Pregnacy (which would be a worry) or STD (which would be a worry). If the condom breaks, you cannot reduce your risk of either by jumping in the shower.

Are you worried about little pieces of rubber hanging around inside?

um...if theres no more bits of condom inside it should be harmless but you should go for a check up and they need to remove any bits of condom from inside you or it could be harmful. This needs to be done ASAP.

Just to make sure I'd go and see you Gynecologist. If there is more condom in you, it may cause an infection. So just to be on the safe side go and get checked.

well if the condom broke there is a chance that you could get an STD or pregnant (depending on if your using contraceptives) regardless of if you washed it out in time. Keep an eye on things maybe see a doctor if you're really worried, but I'm pretty sure these take a couple of days to manifest. Chances are you're are ok but it's not a hundread percent

Buy a douche at the store and use it- that will take care of any "remnants". Use the morning after pill (Plan B) to prevent pregnancy. See your doctor now and in 6 months for STD testing and while you are there get a prescription for birth control.

Yes!!!!!!!!

Even washing yourself can't really protect you from anything. Even if you had gotten all the pieces away, something might have still gotten in and you could be pregnant or infected. See a doctor and take morning-after!

Yes. You should always be worried if a condom breaks. I would be worried even with a condom because most condoms are only 97% effective. That means that there is a 3 out of 100 chance that you could still get pregnant.
Oh, also remember that "whenever you have sex with someone, you have just has sex with everyone that he has had sex with and everyone that they have had sex with (as far as STDs go)."

Might not be anything to worry about but I would get checked anyway just to be sure
