Heat blisters filled with puss?!

Question: Ok So I've been getting these blisters filled with puss on my hands since I was a kid. I am now 27 and I get the EVERY summer. they start out as these tiny bubbles, it itches so bad and when I scratch..it spreads all over my hands & up my arms. once i pop the bubbles, they dry, crack & bleed but only on my fingers. it gets hard to write and bend them. i have to contantly keep my index fingers wrapped up in bandaids throughout the whole summer because it is so painful. I use elocon ointment, it helps but only for a short while. I'll get them on my toes if they are exposed to the sun. I can't even drive in the car without the sun hitting my hands. I have to hide them and put a towel over so the sun doesn't hit them. I feel like i'm allergic to the sun during the summer . it's horrible. I also notice that when I hit the pool, my fingers feel so much better. Like it's medicine for my skin. anyway, is there can anyone relate? what the heck is this?

I HAVE THIS. It drove me crazy for about fifteen years, and then a doctor told me what it was. You're allergic to the sun! It's called PLE (polymorphic light eruption). There are certain rays in the sunlight that you're allergic to. No amount of topical medicine (lotions) will make it better...but the answer is really simple. Loratadine. Generic Claritin. Don't get the decongestant kind, because it will make you loopy and dried out. Just get plain Loratadine and take one every day in the morning, religiously. That's what I do from Spring until Fall...and I haven't had an outbreak in about five years.

One thing to keep in mind is that the itching/bubbles are sometimes delayed by as much as a day. So if you were already out in the sun today, you might still get the itching and bubbles tomorrow, but if you start the Loratadine right away, you should be trouble-free in a couple of days.

You might find that your relatives have it, too. It sometimes runs in families.

Good luck! :)

Just pop the dreaded things, besides that way to much to read

Consult your GP, he/she will know more than the Y!A community. Plus they can ask you all the relevant questions.

You need to see a dermatologist so they can prescribe the appropriate medication for your condition. It could be psoriasis or something like that.

Why not wear cotton gloves to dry and a sunscreen shirt and cream to protect you from the UV. Good Luck!

Check out pictures of Herpes Whitlow. Doesn't sound like what you have but it could be worth a try. It's basically herpes on your hands and fingers.

Consulting a GP is always a good bet.

Check this out...

Porphyria cutanea tarda - The most common presenting sign of PCT is fragility of sun-exposed skin after mechanical trauma, leading to erosions and bullae, typically on hands and forearms and occasionally on face or feet. Healing of crusted erosions and blisters leaves milia, hyperpigmented patches, and hypopigmented atrophic scars.

Happened to me?
It is stress.
