My son is having his adnoids removed has anyone had this done with their child?!

Question: So my son is having surgery he's getting his adnoids removed I was wondering if anyone's kids had this done or even adults and if you can give some advise on how he will feel and if it's helpful. The doctor is doing this because he is snoring and breaths mainly through his mouth instead of his nose because he has small passage ways if that makes sense he took x rays and showed how small the his breathing passages are and they are pretty thin well give me your feed back thanks

All 3 of our kids have had this done. Your child will have a sore throat for the first day or so. Be prepared to have jello, popcicles and soft foods for a few days. It really isn't too bad so don't worry.

My brother had it done, he said his throat hurt a lot after and he has a bit of bruising to the top of his nose, but it was well worth it for him. His adnoids were actually stopping him from breathing when he was asleep!

I had some of mine taken out when I was about 4, but it was at the same time I had tubes put in my ears... All I remember was throwing up in the car on the way home from the hospital... so other than that it didn't seem to do anything to me...

I had it done to me when I was like 5 and my head hurt my throat hurt, and its a little difficult to get used to breathing out of your nose. No long time efeects though. Just in that week, or in a few days things should hurt a little

It's kinda like getting your toncles out. My lil sis had to get them out when she got her tubes in for her ears. That was along time ago so I don't remember what her reaction was sorry.
He should be ok! =)

This is a very common pediatric procedure. Be prepared for the recovery room. Some kids react differently to the anesthesia (acting very fussy or violent when they begin to wake up). It is not this childs intentions, just the body's way of coming off the anesthesia. Normally after the procedure, there should be a world of difference. Your son probably looks as if he has to work for every breath. It should make breathing easier for him. I hope everything goes well. Just give him TLC!

I had my adenoids removed when I was a child (1960's) and have breathed easier ever since with no complications that I can recall.

Do a web search for adenoids (the correct spelling) for further information.
