Runny nose thats colored red?!

Question: I've been sick for over a week and seen my doctor last week, she was a beatch and said I would be fine in a few days!

I have a horrible runny nose that is pouring buckets of red snot for 2 1/2 days.......I've never seen red snot (I assume its blood but have not had an actual blood nose)

Anybody else ever had red snot?

When your nasal membranes are dry you will often have "red snot". Yes, it's blood. It's nothing to get worked up over, drink plenty of fluids and maybe a saline mist would be good to help moisten you back up.

Yep, it's blood. It's most likely one of two things. 1) you've just irritated the tissues so badly thru blowing and sniffing that they're raw and bleeding. 2) You could be dehydrated.

Both are relatively harmless and easy to correct. Drink lots of water, and use some sort of soothing nasal spray. Saline may sting initially, but it'll help coat things.

Hope you get to feeling better soon!

You could try a Neti Pot to wash your sinuses of any allergens that may be in your nose. It will also re-hydrate them.
check out www.Neti Pot.com- the video will show everything, how to use it, ect.
You can buy these pots @ any health food stores (Whole Foods, Wild Oates, Akins, Kashi Foods, ect.).
You could also help keep your nostrils moist w/ a tiny dab of Vaseline petroleum jelly.
Hope everything works out for you. Write back on your findings.
All the best to you.
