What is the severity of level 4 cancer?!

Question: My cousin was diagnosed with level 4 embryonal cancer and he has some spots on his lungs. Honestly, how bad is it and what is the survival rate? PLEASE...no rude answers.

Thank you.

Sorry to hear about your cousin... cancer is a very scary disease. Unfortunately, stage 4 is the worst diagnosis when it comes to cancer. Stage four means that it has spread throughout the body (metastasized). This makes it much more difficult to treate. With stage one or two, they can usually just remove the cancerous tissue and be done. Stage four is more tricky because it has spread, and they can't always see where it's spread to.
I would also like to say that just because it's stage four does not mean that it's incurable. It just means that it has spread. People fight against stage 4 cancer and win the battle. Do not give up hope... no matter what the doctor says!

i'm so sorry about your cousin. my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer on Nov 1, 2007. she never smoked. she's been doing chemo since late november. her oncologist said that her cancer is inoperable and she'll have MAYBE 2 years with chemo. the catch? she got soooo sick from the agressive chemo, that her magnesium dropped, causing her to have a seizure on new years day. since then she's only been able to do mild treatments & not even the whole thing cuz she's spilling protein in her urine, which is bad.
sorry to write a novel, but my take is that stage 4 is very bad. most times the only thing you can do is make the person comfortable, and/or try chemo and/or radiation.
there's always hope for a miracle. the power of prayer is an amazing thing!
i wish you & your family the best.
hugs!

Sorry for your news. I am not being rude or harsh i just want to let you know the facts, Stage 4 cancer is usually incurable and inoperable. But the real question is how aggressive is the cancer???? My mum was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer last may when discovered it had already spread to the liver and lung. It was very aggressive she pasted away 4 months later. once cancer spreads to other major organs it is a cause for concern... it will continue to spread thru the blood stream or lymph nodes to other organs in the body. i wish you all the best, if you need more info please contact me. x

Stage 4 is not good but not the end of the world. My uncle had stage 4 lung cancer, was given 6 months to live. That was 18 years ago. I have stage 4 oral cancer, I am alive and kicking! The trick is you can do one of two things here. You can will yourself to live or to die. YOU CHOSE! We chose to live and we have. SURE we got radiation and chemo, but your attitude plays in to it a lot. Do I feel down and horrible at times? Yes, but I go through that phase and go on. I have ups and downs, but I only focus on the ups. Once I have my down moment, I put it behind me and leave it there!

That's bad. If you want to know the survival rate, your doctor is the best to address your questions. Maybe you can find survival rates on google.
