How to prevent oily face?!

Question: I have been using this doctor prescribed medication for the under-the-skin acne on my face...and it had the stages of making my skin red, then dry, and now oily. But i naturally have oily skin. I wear non-greasy moisturizer and foundation with powder on top....but in a few hours my skin is really oily! like i can take my hand and wipe off the excess oil. How can I prevent this while still using what the doctor prescribed (it works =] )??

I know it sucks, I have very oily skin too. The bad news is there is nothing you can do to really stop it. However, there are a lot of things you can do to help it. First always apply foundation on a clean face. Don't use harsh cleansers or toners looking to "dry" your face out. I use Cetaphil or CeraVe cleansers cause they clean without stripping or irritating. Sometimes even oil-free moisturizers are just too much for under makeup. Use your normal moisturizer at night. In the morning, use an ultra light moisturizer like Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (the BEST! though a little pricier) or Biore Oil Control Moisturizer. Then apply a sunscreen that will act as a primer and block oil (try Clinique City Block or Neutrogena Dry Touch or Healthy Defense. These have strong sunblockers that also help to stop oil too. Then apply your foundation and powder.

During the day, your skin will still get oily. The best thing to use is blotting sheets. You can find some Clean & Clear ones (little blue sheets) for cheap at a drugstore. Use them as often as you need to blot excess oil, then apply pressed powder. This will keep your face clean looking, as putting powder on top of really oily skin just makes you look dirty. This is all you can do really.

In the meantime, drink lots of water and eat a good diet. If this continues to be a prob in the future, talk to your dermatologist about it. They may be able to adjust your medicine or give you something that will help. I don't know how old you are, but birth control can sometimes help by regulating your hormones.

Hope this helps!

pls do not take ur hand and wipe off the oil as ur hands are dirty it will be worse that way and if u wan to remove the oil on ur face, use a tissure paper and also, it is normal when ur face turned red when applying the medication

An oily skin , as the name implies, is one in which the sebaceous or oil-producing glands are over active. As surface grease tends to attract dirt, an oily skin acquires a dirty surface film , that needs to be removed daily. For more details log to http://useinfo-oilyskin.blogspot.com/

Have you tried blotting your skin with thin paper? Like very thin tissue paper (kleenex, toilet paper).

Oily skin is good for preventing wrinkles!

To avoid getting break outs, cleanse your face regularly with VERY, VERY gentle cleanser, try something natural. Harsh cleansers that contain many synthetic chemical agents (most typical cleansers!) will remove all the oil and then cause your skin to react and re-oil itself even worse, it's a protection mechanism.
