How to insert my boyfriend a suppository?!

Question: he probably has got a flu and runs a high fever 39.1Celcius... we tried tablets, but as he is really sick, he had to vomit. Now these suppositories are our last hope, but I've never given one to somebody else and I would like to help him and do it for him as quick as possible. I want to avoid him having trouble with it and I think it's more easy for a second person to do it.
In which position should I bring him? How far should I insert it? The advice on the package isn't very useful...
and besides they are really large, I start worrying by the thought that this big thing has to go into such a small rectum...
Please help me!

tell him to relax... otherwise it will be painful.
I would recommend that he should lie on a bed and pull his knees to his chest. Then you pull down his pants and you will have easy access to his rectum. Pull his buttocks apart and insert the suppository as far as possible by folowing it with your finger until you notice it disappearing from your finger tip. Then you got it in far enough, otherwise it might come out again. Take your finger out and staighten his legs.
A suppository is big, but it will fit into the rectum without problems. He will feel it though, but he will get over it...
Good luck!

he should lie on his left side and use a bit of vaseline or KY on the suppository. Make sure it goes in all the way.

I'm a paramedic, and we sometimes have to do this for unconscious people. What we are taught is the person should be almost in a fetal position on there side. I think a position with him on his side and his knees pulled toward his chest would be easiest. As for depth, really, as long as you get it in far enough that the muscles aren't pushing it out, you are fine. So, just past the rectum...one joint on your finger? I think you'll know when it's in far enough... just a matter of deciding if he clenches is it going to come out, or stay in???
