So what about Medicare?!

Question: so how quick does medicare kick in?

Answers: so how quick does medicare kick in?

It depends upon your situation but Medicare always becomes effective the first of the month. If you are just turning 65 it will be in effect on the first day of your birth month (unless you were born on the first then it will be effective the first day of the prior month). Your Medicare cards will be sent to you automatically if you took early social security. If you didn't get social security you'll need to apply.

If you are over 65 you may have delayed getting Part B. If this is the case Part A became effective as the above paragraph but you will have to apply for Part B. The effective date of Part B will depend upon your specific situation and you'll need to talk with Medicare to find out for sure.
