D Dimer positive...?!
Question: Why would my D Dimer come out positive, and the ultrasound I got showed no blot clots??? My leg has been hurting for a few months-on the left outter thigh area, and now the pain is starting to go towards the top of my leg/thigh. I'm 6 weeks pregnant, but my medicine doctor wants me to get an xray of my leg. The people in radiology were VERY worried about doing it within the first trimester (at least).
So I'm wondering, WHAT causes the D Dimer to come out positive? I'm going to be calling my Dr. back today, but was wanting some input.

Clots can be very difficult to find even with D Dimer. I have to agree with the staff, that the xray should not be used as it is next to useless with finding clots. You should be tested for clotting disorders. One in particular that can often occur with pregnancy is antiphospholipid syndrome. Best wishes to you.
