I think there are 2 possibilities:
1. You are getting older and most of us get darker skin in certain areas as we age due to hormones. (lol, haven't you seen some of the questions on here about darkening butt cracks!) Your cheeks, armpits, groin, and butt crack are all possible areas that hormones will cause darkening depending on the person.
2. I think it is #1, but just in case: the skin around your armpits is kind of like the skin on the back of the neck, around the ear area, behind the ankle, top of the foot. These areas just don't shed cells off easy and the dead skin sticks around longer than you want and it looks darker or dirty. If you oil it up, let it soak, then exfoliate by scrubbing it pink and the appearance is still the same then you know it isn't just a buildup of grungy old skin cells. Deodorant repels water and doesn't make washing easy. Spray deodorant is going all over the place. You gotta really soap up and really scrub to actually cut through it to get to the skin.

Its probably dead skin, just use an exfoliator on it

No. Probably due to changes in pigmentation as you mature. As the armpit skin begins to produce hair, it becomes darker.

try a deodorant that has no aluminium in it, like bionsen, that will stop all that as its more natural x

One of these days a scandal will erupt about deodorants. Any that contain aluminium - virtually all the commercial makes do - are dangerous and potentially carcinogenic. There are crystal-type deodorants now widely available minus the aluminium. They work superbly well yet don't clog up your pores with chemicals that shouldn't be applied to the skin.

Stop spraying. It is bad for you and bad for the enviroment.

Tell me about it-- supposedly aluminum is found in high concentrations in the brains of people with Alzheimer's. Possibly this is a cause and not a symptom, but the aluminum has to get there somehow, and personally I would rather use a safer deodorant! www.lush.co.uk (or.com for US users) has several really good types to try out!

try marks and spencer aloe vera anti-perspirant roll-on.... i've been using this for a couple of months now and my armpits are still white...or find any deodorant with aloe vera 'coz i think aloe vera is good for your skin....

hope this helps....
